With over 25 years of experience working with youth soccer players, Magnus Nilerud has worked with many different clubs in the state of Connecticut and developed many players to move on with successful careers with High School, College, National Teams as well as professional teams.
He is also the Head Coach of Fordham University Women's Soccer and former University of Bridgeport Women’s Soccer Head Coach in where he amassed a record of 295-126-27 which ranks him in the top three in the East Region in both winning percentage and career wins among active coaches and top 15 in the Nation. He is one of only two active coaches in the East region with at least 250 career victories. Nilerud has been named the NYCAC Coach of the Year in 2002 and the East Coast Conference Coach of the Year in 2007, 2009 and 2011, 2015, 2016, 2018 & 2019; the NSCAA East Regional Coach of the Year in 2011, 2015 & 2018 and NSCAA D2 National Coach of the Year in 2015 & 2018 .
He posted a 295-126-27 record in his tenure with the Purple Knights, making 11 NCAA appearances, winning three NCAA Regionals, and reached the pinnacle in 2018 by winning the NCAA Division II National Championship. He is one of only two active coaches in the East region with at least 250 career victories and ranks in the top 15 in the nation for all-time winningest active coaches by wins and win percentage.
Before taking over the Fordham University women's soccer program in February 2022, Magnus Nilerud guided the UB women’s soccer program to 11 NCAA appearances in the last 14 years, three years of which have culminated in capturing the NCAA D2 Regional Championships and in 2018 NCAA National Champions! In 22 seasons as a head coach, Nilerud has coached 130 All-Conference players including ten Conference Rookies of the Year players, eight Defensive Players of the year and seven Offensive Players of the Year, 51 II All-Region players, 34 Daktronics Women’s Soccer All-Northeast Region Team players, Four Daktronics Division II Women’s Soccer Northeast Region Player of the Year, 22 ESPN The Magazine Academic District One Women’s Soccer Team players, twelve NSCAA NCAA Division II All-America players, 15 NSCAA NCAA Division II Scholar All-America players and Twelve Daktronics NCAA Division II Women’s Soccer All-America player. In addition, he has coached 22 consecutive NSCAA Women’s Academic Award Teams.
Nilerud qualified for every conference post season tournament in his time at the helm of the University of Bridgeport. He led the University of Bridgeport Women’s Soccer program to regional or national post season play for eleven consecutive seasons. His record in regional post season play stands at an impressive 21-9-2 with two NCAA Regional Championships, two Division II ECAC Championships and four Conference Championships. His overall record in NCAA post season play stands at 12-7-2
Magnus is a native of Sweden and graduated from the University of Bridgeport in 1999 with a degree in Marketing. He was a standout soccer player for the Purple Knights from 1995 to 1998. As a four-year starter and captain, Nilerud was a two-time All-New England Conference selection, and was selected to play in the Senior Bowl.
Nilerud holds SFF (Swedish Football Federation) and USSF coaching badges and Director of Coaching Diplomas. He serves on multiple NSCAA committees and is the NCAA Division II National Chair for Championships.
Nilerud resides in Hamden, Connecticut with his wife; Sharon, also a University of Bridgeport Alum; and their three daughters, Isabelle, Sofia and Lilliana.

Jonny MacadamJonny Macadam is entering his first season as the Fordham University Women's Soccer 1st Assistant Coach. He rejoins Magnus Nilerud after a one year stint with Fairfield University. Macadam was on Nilerud's staff for five highly successful years at the University of Bridgeport. Coach Macadam earned his Master's Degree in Global Media and Communication and his Master's Degree in has recently finished up his Master’s Degree in Global Media and Communication with the University of Bridgeport and has been promoted to Assistant Coach after two successful years as the program’s Graduate Assistant. Coach Macadam is responsible for recruiting, on field coaching and the day to day operations.
Originally from Scotland, Macadam holds level 1 and 2 badges from the Scottish Football Association. At UB, he pursued a masters degree in Global Media and Communication and a master's degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Data Analytics. Jonny completed his bachelor’s degree in Health Promotion and Fitness Management from Grand View University in Des Moines, Iowa. At Grand View, Macadam had a successful playing career gaining 3 All-American awards and captaining his side to the national elite 8 twice. He has previously worked for recruiting agency First Point USA, dealing mainly with the promotion and compliance of International student athletes with the goal of coming to the U.S to continue their education and sport. Macadam also has experience working with club teams with spells at Des Moines Menace and more locally Connecticut Football Club. Coach Macadam resides in Milford, CT. |
Gabby IsolaGabby Isola is in her first year as the Fordham University Assistant Coach. During the 2021 season, Isola worked as a Graduate Assistant Coach for Ohio University Women's Soccer. Under the direction of head coach Aaron Rodgers, who won 2021 MAC Coach of the Year, she trained a group of goalkeepers that posted 10 shutouts over the course of the season. The team finished in second place in MAC conference regular season play with a 7-1-3 record, falling in the MAC Tournament semifinals to Kent State. Starting goalkeeper Sam Wexell earned All-MAC First Team honors, along with three teammates, and posted a 0.86 GAA and .770 Save Percentage.
As of August 2022, Isola will have earned a Master of Science in Recreation and Sport Sciences from the Ohio University Coaching Education Program. Isola graduated from Villanova in May of 2021 with a bachelor's degree in Communications, where she was a goalkeeper on the women's soccer team. Isola attended high school in her hometown of Montclair, New Jersey, where she was a four-year starter, MVP of their Group IV State Champion team as a sophomore, and team captain during her senior year. She was the recipient of the Matt Reissig Memorial Soccer Award, an annual award presented to a senior varsity player who has benefitted most in his or her personal life from active participation in the soccer program at Montclair High School, and who has contributed significantly to the overall soccer effort. Isola holds a US Soccer Federation (USSF) National F License, USSF 9v9 License, USSF Grassroots 11v11 License, US SafeSport Certification, United Soccer Coaches (USC) Goalkeeping Level 1, USC LGBT Diversity & Inclusion, and USC 11v11 Pre-National Certification. |
Jack AbelsonJack Abelson is the Assistant Coach at Columbia University and the former Assistant Coach at the University of Bridgeport. He spent the 2018 & 2019 seasons with UB after spending two years with Harvard University women's soccer program. Abelson was integral in Nilerud's staff when capturing the 2018 NCAA Regional and National Championship! He has also has been involved for five seasons with the Boston Breakers front office staff in their youth programs as well as their former NWSL pro team.

He has worked with youth, college and pro players and will be integral in helping to put the UB women's soccer program back on the national map." A graduate of University of Birmingham, England, Jack holds a BSc Hons degree in Sports and Exercise Science. During his time at University (2010-2013) Jack also coached in community programs for English Premier League team Aston Villa Football Club enhancing his knowledge of the game. Coach Abelson resides in Stratford, CT with his wife Sydney, Former Assistant Coach at Fairfield University and their daughter Kennedy. |
Megan BurkeBurke enters her 1st season as an Assistant Coach at Boston University after spending four years with Fairfield University after helping the Stags to one of the most successful seasons in school history in 2019. The Stags advanced to their first MAAC Championship Match in six years after an 11-win campaign. Fairfield earned the number two seed in the tournament with a 7-2-1 conference mark.
Burke helped mentor eight All-Conference selections for the Stags, their most honorees since 2008. Included in that group was two All-Region selections in Gabby Diodati and Stephanie Tsangaris and the MAAC Co-Rookie of the Year in Josie Horosky. Burke was named one of 30 selections for the United Soccer Coaches 30 under 30, a program with a year-long education and mentorship opportunity designed to support up-and-coming members of the coaching profession. Burke received an educational scholarship which provides registrations for the United Soccer Coaches Digital Convention and an Advanced Diploma course of the coach's choosing. In addition, members of the 30 Under 30 Program were matched with a mentor dedicated to fostering their growth in the game and expanding their coaching network. Burke's first taste of coaching at the collegiate level came at New Mexico State as she served as a graduate assistant for two seasons with the Aggies. In her first season in 2017, she helped the Aggies to nine victories, just one shy of the program's single season record set back in 2011. Burke helped coach three All-WAC student-athletes during her time with a pair earning a spot on the conference's First Team while also helping goalkeeper Dmitri Fong to an All-WAC Second Team honor during her first competitive season. Burke played her collegiate soccer along at UMass after appearing in 71 matches with 69 starts during her four seasons. The midfielder scored 11 times in her career while also handing out eight assists to finish her career with 50 points. |
